Winter is coming (2019) Collages by Manu Mazaux

Manu Mazaux makes collages which are surprising in their structure and richness.
Like Jacques Villeglé, he "increases" the work of others. He considers collage as a way of paying homage to various artists (photographers, graphic designers, designers, etc.).
His work was quickly spotted in his region where he participated in the Cow Parade in Bordeaux in 2010, and at the MIACS Surf Art Festival in Biarritz in 2011. He will work for the City of Bordeaux during the wine festival in 2012 by joining forces to a major merchant to produce a giant collage bottle in 200 hours. Then he will participate in various auctions (including a project on decorated barrels for the ELA association in 2013 where he finished best seller of the evening...)
Manu Mazaux continues his work based on the orders he receives (some of which come from far away such as Saudi Arabia for example) and the themes requested (Sport, mountains, shoes, wine, tattoo etc…)
In 2015 he participated in the collective Street Art exhibition BACK TO SCHOOL in Bordeaux where he and 35 artists took over the walls of a school doomed to destruction. Since then he has started a series of paintings influenced by the Middle East which was to be exhibited in Ryiadh in Saudi Arabia but which, depending on international news, was postponed…
A self-taught artist in this universe, it was by refusing to throw away magazines that he had just read that he had the idea of ​​starting to collect graphic elements that he found beautiful or interesting. Collage became for him a mode of expression through elements that had already been used for other purposes. It is interesting to be able to assemble pieces of paper into an amalgam with a new meaning, which also lends itself to a new interpretation by the "viewer"...
Manu Mazaux was born in Bordeaux in 1976. Former student in Anthropology at Bordeaux II University and former professional musician within the metal group ZOMBIE EATERS (3 albums, several European tours, a Zénith de Paris with Motörhead and Anthrax... ), He followed the Beaux-Arts courses in Bordeaux as a free auditor in 2008.
