Malala Andrialavidrazana est une artiste visuelle et photographe née à Antananarivo, à Madagascar, en 1971. Établie en France depuis l’âge de 12 ans, Malala est diplômée de l’École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris La Villette. Par sa formation, l’artiste a acquis une certaine aptitude à regarder le monde à travers une vision tridimensionnelle et à utiliser les images pour créer de nouvelles formes de circulation. À l’aide du medium photographique, Malala Andrialavidrazana interroge les barrières et les interactions dans des contextes interculturels, oscillant de manière réfléchie entre espaces privés et considérations globales pour explorer les imaginaires sociaux.
Au fil du temps, Malala Andrialavidrazana invente son langage dont l’approche, résolument tournée vers l’histoire, témoigne en outre d’un profond intérêt pour les enjeux contemporains. Fondées sur de vastes recherches, ses compositions visuelles ouvrent à des formes alternatives de narration.
Malala Andrialavidrazana a reçu le prix HSBC de la photographie. Son travail a notamment été présenté à la Triennale Art et Industrie, la Condition Publique (Roubaix), ainsi que dans les expositions « The World in Common » à la Tate Modern (Londres), «Photography: Real and Imagined», National Gallery of Victoria (Melbourne) «Indigo Waves and Other Stories», Gropius Bau & Savvy (Berlin) et à la Biennale de Sharjah (Émirats arabes unis). Elle a fait l’objet de nombreuses expositions, notamment aux rencontres de Bamako, à Doual’art, au Zeitz Mocaa (Cape Town), au Lagos Photo Festival, aux Biennales de Karachi et de Chanjiang, au Dhaka Art Summit et à Para-Site (Hong Kong) ; à la Biennale de Lyon, au Pac Milan, au musée d’art moderne de Varsovie, à la Fondation Clément (Martinique), à l’Art Institute of Chicago, à la Fondation Boghossian (Bruxelles) et au Palais de Tokyo (Paris). Les œuvres de Malala Andrialavidrazana figurent notamment, en France, dans les collections du Centre National des arts plastiques (CNAP).
