Makef est né à cotonou où il vit et travaille. Très tôt, dès son enfance, l’art est venu élire domicile en lui.Il dessinait pendant les cours sur tous les morceaux de papier imaginables. Après ses études secondaires, il décida de faire carrière dans ce qui était sa passion. Il bénéficia de conseils d’artistes de renom de la place surtout MAGOU un artiste qui l’a soutenu et orienté. Par le biais de ce dernier il rencontra François ZENNER un artiste peintre français qui l’a également forgé.
De recherche en recherche suivant ses états d’âme, Makef évolue en développant chaque fois des théories qui traduisent sa quête de savoir.
Autodidacte, c’est un artiste qui a beaucoup lu et a suivi quelques stages comme seule formation.
Aujourd’hui, il fait un travail où l’humain devient le centre de sa représentation. Sur ces toiles, vous avez des silhouettes des individus. Quand Makef nous voit au quotidien, il nous aperçoit tout d’abord masqués. Ce n’est pas notre apparence qui l’intéresse il va plutôt chercher à pénétrer ce masque pour y découvrir la vraie personnalité. C’est cet aspect qu’il jette sur la toile. Il est sensible à la fragilité humaine. C’est ce qu’il tente de traduire dans son travail à l’huile ou à l’acrylique. Il a exposé dans quelques pays d’Afrique, en
Europe et très souvent au Bénin. Makef fait parti des artistes émergents de sa génération sur qui on peut compter.
