Cette pensée unique qui mène au pire. Autrefois, dans notre Europe, il était Interdit de penser à autre chose qu’à Dieu, interdit de penser autrement que le pape ou tout autre représentant de Dieu, que le seigneur, que le roi ou l’empereur. Nous n’y sommes pas encore habitués, nous qui pouvions circuler, penser, danser, rire de tout et de rien, mais attention, le couperet est là pour sanctionner, censurer les actes, les pensées différentes. Cette lame soutenue par un manche solide, assemblage de toutes ces certitudes qui refusent d’entendre le moindre doute, la moindre hésitation, la moindre contradiction, nouvelle Sainte Inquisition. Martine Magritte is a contemporary Belgian sculptor, born in 1951 in Jumet, Belgium. She studied at the Lycée Royal d'Ixelles, where her talent for visual arts was recognized by her teacher, the renowned Belgian painter Berthe Dubail, a friend of René Magritte. Inspired by Dubail’s guidance, Martine pursued her passion for sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Namur.
Specializing in stone, wood, and bronze, Martine often integrates metal into her works, creating pieces that reflect her deep connection to her materials. Her sculptures embody her way of feeling life rather than merely observing it, translating the essence of her experiences into tactile, expressive forms. Decades of dedication have only intensified her passion, and her work continues to resonate with a profound sensitivity to the passage of time and the richness of life.
