Magdalena Oppelt is a contemporary German artist based near the Swiss border. Her artistic journey began with a focus on realism, but over time, she has continuously explored new methods and materials, experimenting with collages, fillers, and diverse techniques. Oppelt’s work features figurative paintings that often include perspective-challenging vehicles, close-up views of shells, and human torsos. She also creates transformed flat compositions, marked by relief-like broken layers.

Oppelt exclusively uses pure pigments in her work and crafts her fillers from rock powder and clay sourced from Lake Constance. She enjoys incorporating sand from her global travels into her pieces, adding a personal and unique texture to each creation. Her inspiration comes from car cemeteries, old buildings, and her travel experiences, which inform the distinctive and evocative elements in her art.
