My stage name is Lumi and comes from the Romanian Luminita, ''little light''. My story begins when I was about four years old. My first pencil drawing in a religious book dates back to that period: a character in profile with a six-fingered hand. I've always had a great passion for drawing… I drew everywhere and it was a lot of effort for my mother to have to clean up all the marks I left around the house. Since I can remember, my instinct has always been to…become an artist. My parents never shared and supported my choice because they said artists live in poverty all their lives and end up starving. Despite their lack of support, I have always followed my dream, experimenting with many techniques, from pencils, charcoal, watercolor, to oil painting or with inks and acrylics. At school I was very good at mathematics and art education, subjects that allowed me to become an accountant first and then a teacher. I taught drawing and painting to children and the more I was in the art world, the more I realized that that was my belonging, my being. It was my dream world. A place of refuge where I experienced both harmony and torment. A world where my perception was different from the real world. A surreal dream world.
