My name is Luís Mota, I was born in Leiria in 1996 and I am from Bajouca, Portugal. I currently live in Bajouca and I have a degree in Plastic Arts from Escola Superior de Artes e Design in Caldas da Rainha and a post-graduation in Comparative Studies (literature). In my work I have been experimenting mainly with painting, drawing, photography and sculpture. In drawing and painting I use acrylics, filter pen and graphite. I am interested in experimental drawing, in exploring the line that creates forms. In these forms I add color and make collage. I seek visual musicality with materials that I obtain instinctively. In photography I have made some series of works, mostly in black and white. I try to reflect in my images the contrast and shadow games that they present.

In the prints I make, I look for the geometric and abstract line as a chain or sequence of movements and events that define each of the prints, gaining their own atmosphere through the line and gesture I choose to do, even though nothing can actually be controlled. I mainly use linoleum as a base, but I have been experimenting with wood and sheet metal. I especially like to experiment with different techniques and materials in my work. I rely a lot on drawing, mainly on the line, shape, texture of the drawing and I try to do the same with the engraving and the impressions I make.
