I am a chemist, microbiologist and infectious disease epidemiologist. While studying chemistry, I worked at the same time in a medical diagnostic laboratory in microbiology (without any prior knowledge) and therefore learned everything from scratch. During this time I also discovered my passion for microorganisms and so it was only logical that after completing my studies I would do further training to become a microbiologist and infectious disease epidemiologist. I can now look back on over 15 years of laboratory experience.
In addition to my passion for microbiology, I have always had a penchant for art. Over the years in the laboratory, I became more and more fascinated by bacteria and fungi. Not only did I study them scientifically, but I was also able to photograph a variety of subjects on various culture media. Over time I have captured numerous different facets of bacteria and fungi. Microorganisms often change their growth behavior and shape and thus continually offer new templates. I would like to show the world the beauty of microorganisms with a little scientific background.
