Artiste portraitiste malvoyant, Louison Labeau explore les codes du portrait féminin par le prisme de la Sécession Viennoise et de l'Art Nouveau, tout en y apportant un regard actuel. Fortement inspirés par ces courants majeurs de l'expression artistique européenne, les portraits qu'il produit obéissent à des standards de beauté stricts, à même de souligner l'importance prépondérante d'un sujet en particulier : le regard. Véritable miroir de l'âme, l'oeil, le regard de ses sujets est imprégné par la question de la vie qui l'incarne, fenêtre volontairement ouverte sur la maladie qui ronge la vue de l'artiste depuis près d'une décennie. 

Louison tend à rendre justice à ses sujets et à ses références en générant un fourmillement de détails et de volutes autour du visage. Le but principal de la démarche est de rendre le regard central dans la proposition, ainsi que dans les réflexions et questionnements de la personne qui les regarde. L'utilisation de divers processus d'écriture automatique est également employé sur le tour des illustrations pour générer des figures aléatoires. Cette approche permet au cerveau et à l'esprit du spectateur de choisir ce qu'il veut voir et ainsi obtenir un regard foncièrement différent de celui de son voisin, rendant le travail unique à chaque fois.

Biberonné par les oeuvres de Kay Nielsen, Alfons Mucha, Edmond Dulac ou plus récemment des travaux d'un Yoshitaka Amano, Louison Labeau pense que la liberté et la notion de Beau demeurent compatibles dans une seule démarche artistique contemporaine. Il s'efforce, en ce sens, de faire sauter des digues en terme de recherche sur les dynamiques graphiques, de composition et de représentation de l'individu.
