« Inferno » frappe immédiatement le spectateur par sa puissance visuelle et l’ambiguïté de ses formes. Le spectre chromatique, résolument monochrome, marque une prédominance du noir et du gris, ce qui accentue l’atmosphère sombre et infernale, fidèle à la suggestion du titre. La lumière, rare et dirigée, vient frapper la masse centrale, sculptant vigoureusement les volumes dans un clair-obscur dramatique, évoquant les tourments de l’enfer.

Au cœur de la composition siège une créature hybride, torturée, à la fois organique et mécanique. Son torse, humanoïde, évoque la vulnérabilité de la chair, mais la posture voûtée et le dos déchiré laissent entrevoir une souffrance quasi mythologique. De cette figure émergent, ou peut-être l’entravent, des appendices sinueux rappelant d’immenses tentacules. Autour, le sol luit, luisance froide et acide, peut-être de quelque fluide inconnu, ruisselant, renforçant la sensation d’un lieu hors du monde, à mi-chemin entre la réalité et le cauchemar.

Le fond, indistinct et saturé d’obscurité, laisse émerger quelques structures indistinctes, évoquant à la fois la ruine architecturale et la machinerie démente. Cela contribue à l’aspect chaotique, comme si l’artiste avait cherché à représenter un univers où se mêlent les restes d’une humanité passée et les germes d’une nature hostile et extraterrestre. L’intrication du biologique et du mécanique, du tangible et du spectral, fait écho à des visions tout droit sorties du romantisme noir ou des cauchemars de H.R. Giger.
