Liew Choong Ching was born in Mentakab, Pahang in 1973 and studied fine art at the Kuala Lumpur College of Art in 1992-1994.
Liew emerged in the art scene since year 1999 and he fascination for people. Hence, painting people becomes his passion and a logical pursuit in his artistic development.
For the past few years, Liew has worked for his solo exhibitions which have expressed his passion for the South East Asia cultural traditions. Liew found renewed inspiration in figurative subject from Bali. Portrait and Balinese dancing became an appealing focus for his figurative paintings since year 2001.
Liew explored his personal feelings and desires in art and took the unusual step to depicting the aesthetic effects of martial arts. This led him to create his ground-breaking Shadow Boxing series in year 2010.
As a martial arts lover and learner, Liew loves kickboxing and reflected his passion to make a combination of the spirit between martial arts and fine art.

Liew Choong Ching - Shadow Boxing
Liew Choong Ching was born in Mentakab, Pahang, Malaysia in 1973. He studied fine art at Kuala Lumpur College of Art from 1992 to 1994, before making his debut into the art scene in 1999.
For over 10 years, Liew has expressed his passion for the Southeast Asian cultural traditions. Inspired by Balinese subjects, Liew has been focussing on portraits and dances from that region since 2001.
In exploring his personal feelings and desires in art, Liew has taken the unusual step to depict the aesthetic effects of martial arts. This led him to create his ground-breaking Shadow Boxing series in the year 2010.
