Gyorgy Lantos was born in 1957 in Budapest, Hungary. As a child, he had a relationship with art, especially music and art. During his studies at high school, he learned about the technique of intarsia he started applying in his own work. This was the first step for a meeting with artist Alberto Gábrim, a painter who later became Lantos' teacher. Despite love for art, young Lantos decided to graduate from university at the University of Technology in Budapest, and after completing it, he worked as an engineer for more than 10 years. However, the strong relationship to art did not fail and he returned to the arts after 1990, when his teachers became Emil Gábor and István Reinhardt. Since 1995 he has been actively creating, exhibiting and devoting himself to art as his main profession.
