It is a process of printing on art paper using very high-quality pigment inks and printed in very high definition. Its level of conservation is exceptional (more than 100 years), its quality, depth, and richness of nuances exceeds the classic photo print on Argentic paper.
Glossy finish
Apart from its exceptional thickness, the fiber paper is composed of an alpha-cellulose base without acid and it is covered with barium sulphate, and a microporous layer absorption enhancing pigments during printing. A pure white color, non-yellowing to light, this paper is especially designed for resistance and aging. Dirk thienpont (1971)
Ik groeide op bij een alleenstaande moeder (van zes kinderen) met psychische problemen, een alcohol en medicatie verslaving en in dertien instellingen. Er was geen ruimte om echt kind te zijn. Het spelen werd vervangen door overleven. Het leren werd niet op school gedaan maar op straat, waar ik als klein ventje, al zwervend leerde van mijn ervaringen. Ik moest wel creatief zijn.
Van overlevende zwerver naar spelende reiziger,
India was een tijd lang mijn tweede thuis. Daar ontmoette ik twee bijzondere mensen. Ze nodigden mij uit om met hen een kunstzinnige speelse dialoog aan te gaan. Gedurende één maand heb ik daar met hart en ziel samen met hen geschilderd, gelachen en gehuild. We verkeerden in een staat van constante verwondering doordat we deelnemers waren van de versterkende dynamiek die ontstaat wanneer mensen samen binnen een veilig kader kleur bekennen.
Deze ervaring nam ik daarna mee op mijn tocht om de kinderen van de dichtbevolkte sloppenwijken voor mijn project ‘A heART for India’ te laten schilderen. Hun werken werden uitgewisseld met kinderen die hier in het mooie Gent les volgden aan de Academie voor beeldende kunst, waar ik zelf experimentele schilderkunst volgde.
Bovenstaand verhaal heeft mij geleerd dat iedereen die kan en durft spelen ook kan schilderen.
In mijn atelier waar ik ook tentoonstellingen, workshops en creatieve therapie organiseer, deel ik graag mijn wereld en toon ik graag mijn werken. Ze nodigen uit om onze binnenwereld en de rijkdom van ons innerlijke kind te ontdekken.
Het vertrekpunt van elk schilderij is dat wat zich op dat moment aandient. Het zijn mijn dagboeken, mijn spiegels, ontdekkingsreizen. Telkens opnieuw worden de ruwe kantjes van het leven tijdens het schilderen afgevijld, de littekens worden eretekens, het zwart- witdenken krijgt kleur tot wanneer de bestemming bereikt is. Pas dan komt het schilderij mij iets vertellen waar ik nog geen doorleefde inzichten in had.
Na het spelen met verf komt het spelen met woorden om een titel aan het werk te geven. Soms voegt de titel iets toe aan het werk of is het bedoeld om de fantasie van de kijker te prikkelen. Een andere keer komt het voort uit de behoefte om een gevoel of zelfs een statement in de wereld te zetten. Alles kan, alles mag en is mogelijk in het hier en nu. Net zoals aardekleuren hemels kunnen worden.
Spelen is nu mijn tweede natuur geworden, mijn kracht, mijn toeverlaat, mijn muze. en ik heb een onweerstaanbare drang om te creëren.
en zo vind ik telkens mezelf, al spelend, al schilderend. Welkom in mijn (speel)wereld(en), welkom in mijn atelier.
