An original watercolor and ink painting of 2, Tui birds playing in a gorgeously colored interior. I choose these playful birds to place into this scene because these birds are close to my heart and also because they coordinate so beautifully with the colors in this scene! I used to live in New Zealand and we had these birds in our yard frequently. Well over 140 hours went into producing this painting which is 52 inches with a one half inch wide border all the way around. It is painted on heavyweight Arches French made, 356gsm all-cotton paper. It ships safely rolled in a tube. This painting comes with a certificate of authenticity and has been painted with Rembrandt professional watercolor paints and archival ink.
This painting ships free in the US, safely sealed in a shipping tube.

Kristen Olson Stone grew up in a Maryland suburb of Washington, D.C. with a sincere appreciation for art and music. The daughter of two classical musicians, she spent time learning to play piano, violin, viola, [...]

Kristen Olson Stone grew up in a Maryland suburb of Washington, D.C. with a sincere appreciation for art and music. The daughter of two classical musicians, she spent time learning to play piano, violin, viola, and classical guitar. Although she loved music, her real passion has always been that of drawing and painting. 

Inspired by her grandmother, also a painter, she attended art school at The University of Maryland and The California Art Institute in Los Angeles.  Classically trained, she enjoyed painting people and portraits but her love of nature and wildlife steered her towards a more painterly style of impressionism. 

Kristen is an interdisciplinary artist working in  oil and watercolor.  Her joyful, colorful paintings are very popular with collectors!  Her style of oil painting features luxurious, thick strokes of oil paint which give added interest to the artwork.  When viewed from a close distance, these oil paintings appear to be a textured mosaic of beautiful strokes of color, like tiny abstract paintings within the larger work. When viewed from a further distance, the lines, colors and shapes come together to magically reveal a particular subject.
