Sigwada Knicolai Mendoza
First time I saw her work, I overlooked the bigger picture. I thought I was only seeing swirls, curls, just taking in the colors and how it all blended in together.
And that's how her work depicts Ana Mendoza, or as her real name will immediately impress upon you her personality, Sigwada Knicolai Mendoza's work is strangely unique yet familiar.
A 2001 graduate of the University of the Philippines in Fine Arts, Anna is presently an art teacher in La Salle Greenhills, and she claims to prefer working when happy and her feelings are most evident in her works. Experimenting with more than just one medium and dabbling on using some of these media altogether brings about a certain style of her own.
Ana is working on two series, Angels and Lizards. The former is on hold for the moment as she focuses on completing her work on Lizards. You'll be surprised as to how she can make Angels unique despite their common depictions in paintings and the like. And how she can make Lizards seem so attractive and appealing in her works. As I mentioned before, unique yet familiar seems to be her signature.
Also, she has worked with several art exhibits before and even ventured doing solo exhibits. Her last exhibit was entitled Unconventional Angel. Once you see her works, you'll find that her depictions of angel is not of the ethereal kind but of the mortal kind. The portrayal of which shows a side of angels in every one of us.
Her works have certainly garnered her enough attention to warrant people in buying her art and others to employ her skill in painting murals and the like. Her work that got into the finals of the 33rd Shell National Students Arts Competition was even bought and paid for.
