The reality accessed with closed eyes or in a lucid dream is personal and although with limitations, painting is the best way to try to communicate it over.

I‘ve been living in Africa for the past 30 years, and over time I developed a certain perception of Africa’s nature and people. Now I perceive Africa as the land of polarities, the place where serenity quickly turns to violence and then the overall experience converts to a different world view, to a different understanding of this primordial continent. Observing the African wild led me to the realization that the laws at work here, albeit violent at first glance, are in perfect alignment with the predatory nature of the Universe we live in. Every blissfully quiet moment of the African night in the wild is pregnant with explosive violent potential. Every second something is ambushing, attacking, killing, and eating something else and even the most vicious predators eventually end up on the wrong end of the food chain, being food for something else. “Africa” is a series of abstract paintings where I try to capture this polarity.
