Я преднамеренно сделала его образ более молодым и светлым. Это моё видение.
На моей картине Дракула не несёт печать мрака и бремя суровых лет. Это молодой Дракула, отважный воин и смелый лидер, который в своё время посвятил жизнь борьбе за независимость и свободу своей страны от множества врагов и неприятелей. Он жил в тёмное время, когда принимались жестокие решения. Это было время Тюдоров и Борджиа, это было время междуусобных войн и заговоров. И его деяния как исторической личности были не чуть не более худшими, чем у большинства властителей и королей того времени.
Влад Цепеш, князь Валашский, он изображён на моей картине просто молодым вельможей.
Я подняла его шапку выше со лба и убрала тяжелые круги под глазами, и почти не предала значения деталям в его одежде. Для того, чтобы нарисовать его портрет, я отказалась от простого копирования его наиболее известных портретов на старинных гравюрах и картинах. Я приняла во внимание неоднозначность, а часто и неестественность канонических изображений известных персон на старинных гравюрах изображениях. Я изучила множество изображений как на картинах, так и в скульптурных композициях образа князя Дракулы. В итоге именно на основе многих типов изображения я создала его общий образ.
Это просто молодой аристократ, но он же и предполагаемый самый знаменитый вампир всех времён и народов по легендам. А потому оттенок тайны всё равно остался...
