Artistic profile of Chen Minglong and Pei Yuqin
Chen Minglong and Pei Yuqin studied under the art educator and famous calligrapher and painter Mr. Liu Rupu in the 1960s. Their common interests brought them together and they have been together for more than thirty years. In his spare time, he expresses his emotions through calligraphy and painting, feeling the beauty of the rhythm of his life and experiencing his own tranquility.
Minglong was very fond of calligraphy, and practiced seal, official, regular and cursive scripts; he dabbled in poetry, calligraphy, painting and seal carving; he also read extensively the history of Chinese literature and calligraphy to enrich himself and broaden his horizons. Gradually, the styles of official script are dignified and vigorous; bronze inscriptions are simple and rounded; and regular script is honest and steady. He is currently a member of the Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association, a member of the Shandong Calligraphers Association, and a director of the Shandong Higher Education Calligraphers Association. He works at Shandong Administrative College and is a part-time calligraphy professor.
After retiring from the Shandong Provincial Textile Bureau, Yuqin devoted herself to painting. Under the careful guidance of Mr. Zhang Heyun and others, he studied the painting materials about the aquatic creatures, copied the works of famous artists and went to lakes and ponds to collect materials and sketch. The carp he painted is lively and agile; the goldfish is colorful. His works such as "Fish Enjoying the Spring" and "Sharing Harmony" were well received by the audience. He is currently the vice president of Shandong Yanshan Calligraphy and Painting Academy and a director of Gaotang County Artists Association.
Minglong and Yuqin pursued the harmonious unity of truth, goodness and beauty in calligraphy and painting, and used their pens and ink to express their wishes for a peaceful society and their longing for the magnificence of the City of Springs. I wish them continuous progress, making friends with virtue, and making more friends.
