They are called Sköll and Hati in Norse mythology, Rahu in Hindu mythology, Apophis in Egyptian mythology, and Deniwan among the Aboriginal peoples of Australia.
Across the world, many cultures share legends and stories passed down from generation to generation, describing spirits, demons, or gods pursuing the sun, seeking to devour it.
This painting offers an abstract interpretation of this universal myth. The 300 squares that make up this work act as a visual repertoire of the multiple forms this spirit can take.

The work is presented in a white wooden frame, visible in one of the product photos, and protected by a plexiglass panel, combining elegance and modernity.

Born in 1982, Julien Gavard is a French artist and designer, living and working in France. For over fifteen years, he has been exploring various artistic disciplines, ranging from music and poetry to visual arts, such as collage and painting. This year marks a significant step in his journey, as he decides to share his creations with the public for the first time.
Using marker on paper as his main medium, Julien Gavard is distinguished by a style of geometric abstraction. His work is deeply influenced by Aboriginal art, whose symbolic richness fascinates him. His background as an engineer is also reflected in his love of symmetry, constraints and algorithms, which imbue his compositions with mathematical rigor.
Julien Gavard also draws his inspiration from abstract art, sashiko, Japanese patterns, and natural forms. Each work he creates is a "visual poetry", a composition that goes beyond simple aesthetics to tell a story through symbols, textures, and color harmonies.
