Double exposure photos consisting of overlapping photographs taken across different times and places. They include photographs of coastal Brazil where I lived, Brighton where I lived for a year and London where I live now (and some photos from places I have visited). My intention is to create personal images rooted in the world and people I encounter while at the same time exploring a space between reality and imagination. The results I hope are images that have the quality of dreams and memories - including what is familiar and escaping it - inviting the viewer to assign their own interpretation while journeying into their own imagination.

These works are double exposure photos consisting of overlapping photographs taken across different times and places. They include photographs of coastal Brazil where I lived, Brighton where I lived for a year and London where I live now (and some photos from places I have visited). This is a refreshing departure from my usual work, which often focuses on the chaotic and vibrant world of people and cities. I am finding that the slower pace of nature allows me to focus on the details and appreciate the beauty of the natural world.

Biography
Juliana Vasquez is a Brazilian-Italian fine art photographer living in London, UK. A graduate in journalism, she began her career as a photojournalist in her native Brazil. Working mainly for newspapers, she had the opportunity to photograph a complex, vibrant and chaotic society. In 2011 she started freelancing and moved to London, where she continues to document the environments around her, with a particular interest in photographing the people she meets, the places she visits and the beauty of the things she sees.
Recently, she also explores poetry and memory through images in a project called Double Exposure. Revisiting her personal archive, she combines photographs to create new dreamlike worlds and landscapes that exist independently of past, present or future dimensions of time.
