The orange lily is a symbol of success, harmony and respect. If you want to show a person how much you appreciate him, give him a bouquet of orange lilies and your gift will be special to him. Lily is universal for any holiday. When I saw her, I felt the grace and inner strength of this flower. It was these feelings that I really wanted to keep in the picture, so that even when the flower in the vase wilts, you can look at the picture, remember your feelings and enjoy the beauty of the lily.

My name is Julia Birst. I am an self-taught artist since 2015.

At that time drawing saved me from depression. Nine years have passed since then, and I can no longer live without brushes.

I was born in Kazakhstan, in Almaty city; but for more than 16 years already I've been living in Berlin, Germany.

The first steps in drawing I did with gouache, mastered watercolor and oil on my own, studied Chinese Wu-Xing painting and calligraphy.

My skills grew and it was really important to learn how to create professional unique masterpieces. I started to learn the basics of academic painting and composition, and botanical illustration. Since then, I have been constantly studying with the world's leading artists, monitoring current trends in art, experimenting with different materials and techniques in painting, creating serial works.

Mostly I draw in the technique of realism. I love landscapes, including urban ones. I like to convey the state and mood of nature.

I am engaged in botanical illustration. I love plants and I am happy to depict flowers, fruits, vegetables.

All my paintings are about the love of nature. They are about color, external and internal beauty. As well as about the most accessible things that we all have – air, rain, light. We sometimes forget about them, rushing somewhere every day. Even though you can stop at one point, look at the drops on the glass, admire the fading rose, inhale a breath of gray foggy air, catch a bizarre shadow on the grass from a bicycle, have time to enjoy the beauty so as not to miss life itself.

I have a psychological background and as far as I've always been interested in the development of thinking and creativity, art therapy, I now successfully combine psychology and drawing.

I'm also a business author, who studied a lot with leading journalists in storytelling and journalistic genres. I fell in love with such a genre as an interview. Now I am happy to conduct and write interviews with people of creative professions.

In 2019 one of my works, urban landscape, was written at the request of the literary magazine "Berlin.Shores".

Since March 2022 I have been a member of the Association of Botanical Artists (SABA).
