Juan Colon
Born in 1958 in Linares, Jaén, at the age of eleven he moved to Valencia.
Despite his young age, upon his arrival in the Mediterranean city, he began to delve into the world of plastic arts at the hands of great Valencian masters who, recognizing his precocious artistic potential, welcomed him into their workshops, initiating him into disciplines such as drawing. , painting, ceramics and sculpture.
At the age of thirteen, moved by his great artistic concern, he already creates his first works that confirm his vast potential.
A few years later, he combines his work and learning in the workshops of his teachers with his studies in artistic expertise at the Escuela Superior de Cerámica de Manises, obtaining the title of artistic expertise, as well as recognition by the Círculo de Bellas Artes. from the City of Valencia.
Twenty years ago he founded his own workshop, in which he carried out international orders for both reproductions and his own original themes referring to all kinds of motifs (ancient, mythological, rustic from the 14th to the 16th and 18th centuries),... working on wood, ceramics, tiles or paint.
In 1998 he founded the artistic group "Sol de l'Art" in Manises, holding numerous exhibitions throughout the Peninsula. He is also an active member of the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Valencia. He is also a founding member and president of the A.I.A. (International Association of Artists), with headquarters in Portugal and delegation in Spain.
On July 14, 2004, the “Juan Colón International School of Art” was inaugurated in Quinta de Anreade (Portugal).
His works have been exhibited on numerous occasions, both individually and collectively, in places as diverse as the US, Chile, Brazil, Milan, Florence, Siena, Murlo, Montelupo (Italy), Norway, Frankfurt (Germany), Amsterdam (Holland), Resende, Porto, Gaia and Lamego (Portugal).
His large-format sculptures, as well as his ceramic panels, can also be found on display in different public places in Manises (Calle Justo y Pastor, Plaza Vicente Barberá, Colegio Villareal, Avenida Francisco Valldecabres, Parque de los Filtros or Avenida Blasco Ibáñez). In the Hospital de Manises you can admire his ceramic mural "Cadena ADN", measuring 300×200 cm
