Jose Fors, born in Havana, Cuba in 1958, is a contemporary artist known for his diverse and extensive body of work. He moved to the United States in 1960 and later traveled to Mexico in 1967, where he initially lived in Guadalajara before relocating to Mexico City. In 1976, Fors moved to Miami, Florida, where he studied for three years under Robert Martinez. After his time in Miami, he returned to Guadalajara, where he currently resides.
Fors held his first solo exhibition in 1979 at the Virginia Miller Galleries in Miami, marking the beginning of a prolific career. His art has been showcased in notable exhibitions across various cities, including Miami, Washington, DC, Boston, Winnipeg, Tokyo, and Guadalajara. His work has earned a place in the permanent collections of prestigious institutions such as the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin, the San Antonio Museum of Art, the Wurt Museum in Germany, the University of Guadalajara's Museum of Art, the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum in Chicago, the National Museum of Fine Arts in Cuba, and the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Los Angeles, among others.
