BORN IN MEDELLIN, COLOMBIA.
The beautiful energy of shapes and colors in Jorge Johnson's works are talismans against the gloom of the times. His way of separating the fields of colors with fine network borders gives an impression of cloisonné enamels and shimmering preciousness, in an alliance of concentration in the work and decorative exuberance. This exaltation of color that recalls (perhaps) his Latin American blood, and this formal profusion that carries a narrative and ornamental luxuriance full of life and symbols, contrasts quite radically with the often much darker tone and palette of a contemporary art in touch with the complicated present of our planet.
