Jin-Shan Shen is a contemporary Chinese artist. He is currently engaged in several kinds of art experiments such as painting, lacquer art and sculpture. He has broken through some art expressions in continuous explorations and reflections. His lacquer paintings violate the plain forms of traditional lacquer paintings and construct a unique aesthetic character, “lacquer carving”, which is very modern and fascinating, full of great beauty and natural harmony. In order to extend the oriental aesthetic expressions, he uses paper as a new media, which bears the ID of oriental civilization. By the use of multiple materials like paper, paints, minerals, and gold and silver powder, he focuses more on the ontology of painting with free spirit and creates a wholly new interpretation to the lacquer culture.
Jin-Shan Shen was born in 1987, in Quanzhou, Fujian Province, China. Shen exhibited his works nationally.
