Jim Fogarty
I was born in Carlisle in 1960. Travelled the world as a child, as my Father was in the Army. As a youngster at school was only really interested in football, art and technical drawing. Eventually getting a very lowly grade of A' level pass in art. Unfortunately, I was altogether far too interested in my social life at the time - well, your only young once.
Art college was mentioned, but the thought of even longer in fulltime education did not appeal - so I went to work on a farm instead.
Eventually joined the Royal Marines 1979, did my bit for Queen and Country, then left and joined the Fire Service in Leicestershire.
Since leaving the Fire Service in 1996 I moved to Orkney with my wife and two children. Have since worked as crew on a creel boat, managed a salmon farm and until recently worked in Government Security in and about London.
I am now finally settling down to concentrate on my artwork, much to my families relief.
Have done the odd bit of airbrush work since moving to Orkney as a hobby, but am now concentrating on my pencil drawing for a while, then plan to eventually move on to some proper painting. Time will tell.
Hope you like what is here so far.

Not really what I would call an 'Arty Farty' type of person. I appreciate good art of all types and aspire to improve in whatever I do, in art, as in life.
I have always drawn and doodled for as far back as I can remember - it was one of the few things I was actually any good at!
Finally, here I am 'Dipping a toe in the water' as far as my artwork is concerned. I have so many ideas of things that I want to try and techniques I want to learn, but aim to get the basics right first, so am concentrating on drawing for now.
