Jesús Tejedor is a contemporary Spanish artist whose creative philosophy revolves around experimentation and the belief that life itself is an ongoing experiment. He navigates a unique space in the art world, positioning himself between two opposing forces that reflect one another. For Tejedor, art is not about adhering to a specific idea or ideology, but rather about embracing an attitude and a way of life.
His artistic process begins with an intuition, a primordial idea sparked by the reading of a publication, which he outlines in simple lines that suggest a rhythm, frequency, intensity, and temperature—the foundation of his work. From there, he lets the painting guide him, allowing it to dictate its needs, whether that involves a simple circle, a texture, or a fine line that interacts like a conversation. Throughout this process, Tejedor maintains a certain rigor, documenting his journey. While he is conscious of the object he is creating—be it a painting, sculpture, book, or engraving—he views the process itself as life.
