Jeff Ferst was born in the US and moved to Canada after graduating New York University, BFA. He spent most of his life there before returning to the US and then moving to San Miguel de Allende, México where he lived until 2023 then moving to a larger community in Querétaro.  Ferst received his first gallery representation in New York City at the age of 18 while studying at NYU. Since then Ferst's work has been exhibited and sold by galleries around the world. He has exhibited along side many artists including Robert Rauschenberg, Robert Indiana & Jasper Johns. In one exhibition with those artists his work was singled out as the flagship piece of the exhibit. Critics have called his work joyful, juicy, flamboyant and full of life. In one critique his work was referred to as having "musicality" and being "organic". These days you can find Ferst in his studio creating new paintings or involved in his new passion - weaving. His weavings are extraordinarily unique. An ancient Mexican craft he has transformed his hand loomed pieces into vehicles to capture his eye for nature and colour.
