Pendant mes études d'ingénieur, j'ai illustré par mes caricatures les revues internes universitaires sous le nom de Loko, en alternance avec Pécub, qui est - lui - devenu caricaturiste professionnel. La caricature et le dessin sont restés un loisir pendant ma carrière d'ingénieur, puis de formateur d'ingénieurs. J'ai aussi illustré de dessins de trains à l'encre les documents pédagogiques que je remettais aux étudiants. Une encre perd moins de qualité qu'une photo à la reproduction par photocopie. Je disais alors que "pour la couleur, je ne vaux rien, j'en reste au noir-blanc". En 2015, lors d'un séjour sur l'île d'Oléron, j'ai eu le courage de dépasser mon a-priori et de tenter l'aquarelle avec le port de La Cotinière, en autodidacte. Pas déçu du résultat, j'ai persévéré, essentiellement pendant les vacances. En retraite depuis septembre 2020, j'ai élargi ma palette de sujets et de techniques. Je continue à signer "Loko" mes caricatures et "JMA" mes dessins et peintures.
