Cette toile met en scène ce qui pourrait être considéré comme une métamorphose, du corps certes, mais aussi de manière métaphorique de l'esprit. Cette métamorphose, processus de transformation radicale, évolution, opère en un seuil comme lieu d'une prise de sens. Ce qui s'y joue aussi est une métamorphose de la pulsion vitale tellement ancrée dans le réel d'un corps vibrant.

Une métamorphose, une mutation, est un processus et en ce sens constitue un mouvement. Or le mouvement en soit, lié à des questions d'espace et de temps, ici des questions d'instant à même le vivant, est insaisissable et se caractérise en ce qu'il échappe. Il n'est donc possible que d'en saisir des représentations qui ne peuvent contenir en elles son essence.

Le traitement du drapé, dans cette toile, constitue une tentative d'approcher ce mouvement de transformation. Les plis, en volutes, peut-être gonflées par un souffle, tentent d'en proposer une version, tourmentée mais généreuse.

La technique utilisée est celle de la peinture à l'huile, médium fluide, malléable permettant des illusions de texture, des effets de transparence.
