Jean Claude Kabongo was born Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, where he currently lives and has his atelier. Kabongo holds a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from The University of Arts. This impressionist artist is recognized as one of Philadelphia’s most celebrated artists.
His exceptional artistic talent was evident from a young age. Since his teenage age, he started exhibiting paintings at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Kabongo’s other great love is for California’s landscapes. Despite living in Philadelphia, Kabongo returned to California every year, drawn to the intense light and broad horizon of the coast. Jean Claude Kabongo grew a reputation for beach scenes, which he painted endlessly, and had an uncanny ability for capturing the effects of blazing sunlight. Jean Claude Kabongo executed many of these pictures 'en plein air'. The grains of sand are embedded in their densely painted surfaces.
