BIOGRAPHY

I was born in the province of Melchor Muzquiz in the northern state of
Coahuila, Mexico. On February 19, 1954. My parents were Don Roman
Galan de la pena y Dona Lucila Muzquiz Rodriguez
It seems that love for painting runs in the genes of my ancestors. I can say
so, because the high number of relatives with this talent or tendency. Its
evident that my genetic and artistic heritage finds its expression through
different media (Painting, photography, poetry, ceramics etc.) as part of the
process of self-identification and realization within the arts.
Basically, I am a self-taught artist. I have been my own teacher for more than
20 years, discovering within the versatility of my style different trends of
painting as cubism, surrealism, abstract etc., and without having any
preference, I keep experimenting all of them.
It is worth mentioning the ability to draw since childhood, where my most beloved
subject was to create out of my imagination the facades of modern houses. Here
the child architect who enjoys the pleasure to mold space through lines, angles
and colors, which I interpret as the bridge to understand cubism. So it was
geometry, the science that helped me to create and develop my own style, and it
was literature, the art, that increased the interpretation of my own hieroglyphics.
It was reading about the great modern painters that gave me the
feeling of confidence, a feeling of belonging to a certain psychological
sameness, a feeling of radical transition from centuries of traditional art. In
other words, whatever I create in my own era, is a legacy from their pioneer
and profound vision.
It was during my high school days in the early 70's, while living in Monterrey
Mexico, when I began to read a lot of spiritual and didactic books, which
increased my sensibility toward life and art. Then in 1975, I moved to Austin,
Texas where I became serious in expressing myself through the art of painting.
Since then I have been living and working on my project, in cities such as:
Mexico City, Guanajuato, Mex., San Antonio and Austin Tx. USA.......

Biografia

Naci en la provincia de Muzquiz en el estado norteno de Coahuila, Mexico. en una madrugada del dia 19 de Febrero de 1954.
Mis padres fueron Don Roman Galan de la Pena y Dona Lucila Muzquiz Rodriguez. Que en paz descancen.

Parece ser que la pasion por la pintura corre en los genes de mis ancestros. Lo puedo decir asi, por le alto numero de primos y parientes con esta tendencia. Es evidente que mi herencia genetica-artistica encuentra su expresion a travez de diferentes medios, como son la pintura, poesia, fotografia, ceramica etc. y como parte de un proceso de auto-identificacion y realizacion dentro de las artes.
Basicamente soy un artista autodidactico. He sido mi propio maestro por mas de 20 anos, descubriendo dentro de la versatilidad de mi estilo,...
