App_art is an unique technique, which encompasses some artistic developments during the centuries from the 18th to the 21st
Each piece starts on my iPad – there I strive not to mimic real world media, but to use the unique qualities and functions that only virtual space could offer. While working on the tablet, why to pretend I am doing oil on canvas ? – I can always go and do it for real. On the other hand, tablet+pressure sensitive stylus allows me to create things undreamt of in the real world. So I am using it as self-contained media. Pressure sensitive stylus, tablet, and the most advanced painting app – cutting edge technology of 21st century.
Then the piece is transferred to a tin printing plate for offset print. While going back in time to the 19th century technology one can fine tune overall tone of the piece.
Finally, each plate is transferred to a lithographical limestone. In the lithography workshop, a unique process that cannot be reproduced starts: printing with direct colours mixed on the spot, applied with various intensity over the stone, etching out details or printing duplex: once working in real scale, the process gets very individual. Using a technique from the 18th century it is possible to manually fine tune even further, exactly what the piece demands.
