I was born in August 1981 in Lowestoft, Suffolk (United Kingdom) and am the eldest of three sons.
I currently live in Halesworth, Suffolk (United Kingdom).
My formal education is in aerospace engineering, graduating in 2002, and I came to art in my late twenties having been told at school that I would never be any good at art. Since then I have studied Art and Creative Craft and Life Drawing through adult education classes and online courses from MOMA (Modern Art and Ideas, Into the Studio: Postwar Abstract Expressionism).
My engineering education is a significant influence on my work, I enjoy using elements of technical drawing, geometry and patterns within my work. I also find colour theory interesting, particularly the optical effects that can be achieved through colour choice.
