Jack Pierson

Jack Pierson (b. 1960, Plymouth, Massachusetts) is an acclaimed American artist known for his diverse practice encompassing photography, word sculptures, collages, installations, and drawings. A graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, he is associated with the Boston School of photographers, capturing intimate and casual moments in the 1980s.

His iconic "Word Sculptures," made from salvaged letters, evoke layered meanings, while his 2003 photo book Self Portrait explores the arc of life through images of men. Pierson's work spans video projects, silkscreen paintings, and handwritten "first page drawings," consistently challenging artistic conventions and blending emotion with conceptual depth.
