Ivan Kalinkin is an interdisciplinary artist working in the field of visual and performance arts. Born in 1992 in Kalach-on-Don, Russia. Since 2013 he has lived and created in St. Petersburg.
From an early age, Ivan was immersed in the world of art: he studied choreography, was interested in theater, photography and psychology, which played an important role in shaping his unique approach to work. In 2019, he consciously decided to devote himself to art, deepening his knowledge and skills in the field of visual and performative practice.
In 2023, Ivan completed an acting course at Part Academy, and in 2024 he graduated from the Institute of Visual Arts, becoming part of Eduard Kopysov's mentor program.
In his work, Ivan perceives the world from its poetic, contemplative side. He raises important social issues, explores complex aspects of human nature, works with body memory, studying trauma and its impact on personality. The duality of the universe, such as silence and chaos, become the main focuses of his art, allowing him to create deep and multi-layered works.
Ivan also actively shoots and acts in films, paints, stages and participates in performances and theatrical productions, creates clothes with his works, performs with plastic improvisation, exploring the body as a source of memory and sensations in space.
