Iris Perez was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She studied Art at the National school of Fine Arts and at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD). She specialized in painting and attended the sculpture workshops of the masters Leopoldo Perez and Domingo Luz. She also participated in various courses and workshops throughout the country.

Iris Pérez works as a teacher in the National School of Fine Arts, the Museum of Contemporary Drawing and the Latin Academy of Visual Arts. She has also taught in the Faculty of Humanities of the INTEC University, done children’s workshops in the Museum of Contemporary Drawing and given classes in the Central Bank, amongst others. She is an external consultant in the area of capacity building of teachers in the Department of Art Education of the Ministry of Education.
Since 2001 she has been involved in the project of Public Art: Contemporary Actions, doing community work and interventions together with other artists, students of Art and members of the country’s communities. As a result of this project, she was selected to be a member of the jury of the Ford’s Foundation and the Environment International prizes. She has received numerous awards and token of gratitude both within the country and abroad.
She has participated in specialized courses and workshops in ceramics, engraving and Art History in the following institutions: The National School of Fine Arts, The Museum of Modern Art, Amaco Caribe, the School of Design of Alto de Chavón, the Dominican College of Plastic Arts, the Spanish Cultural Centre, the Pedro Henríquez Ureña University and the Ingerís Foundation amongst others. She is a technical and Web designer as well.
She participated in the 1st Latin American Workshop in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and in the Regional Symposium “Incidence of Pre-Columbian Culture in Art, Arawak Inc., Autonomous University of Santo Domingo.

Iris Pérez. Nace en Santo Domingo, República Dominicana. Realiza estudios superiores de arte en la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes y la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD). Cursó talleres de especialidad en el area de pintura y el taller de escultura con los maestros Leopoldo Pérez y Domingo Liz. Ha participado en cursos y talleres de especialización en cerámica, grabado e historia del arte, en varias instituciones del país. Se desempeña como profesora de la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes, el Museo del Dibujo Contemporáneo y la Academia Latina de Artes Visuales. Ha impartido docencia en la Facultad de Humanidades de la Universidad INTEC entre otras instituciones.

REPRESENTA EL PAIS EN MUESTRA INTERNACIONAL EN BERLIN ALEMANIA.
Y EN DISTINTOS EVENTOS NACIONALES E INTERNACIONALES
Iris Pérez continúa la travesía internacional que inicio a mediados de año con la muestra colectiva que diera apertura el 12 de octubre en Berlín Alemania donde presenta dos pinturas de gran formato.
´Stiftung INTERNATIONALES FORUM es una fundación ubicada en Berlín Alemania que aparece al público con una exhibición contemporánea internacional. En la muestra más de 40 renombrados artistas de cuatro continentes presentan sus obras en un área de exhibición de 600mt.
El punto culminante y la conclusión del evento será una subasta de las obras a realizarse el 26 de octubre.
La comisaria de la muestra y también presidenta de la fundación es la Sra. Isabel Gabriel Nang.
La fundación se entiende como un promotor para el establecimiento de una red multidisciplinaria donde los artistas internacionales participantes, científicos, políticos, embajadores, empresas comerciales y los empresarios dejaran fluir los actuales del proceso de la globalización y desarrollan la cooperación y arreglos innovadores. Esas actividades abarcan exposiciones, simposios, proyecciones de películas, lecturas, música y eventos performaticos.
Un ejemplo actual para esas actividades de la fundación es el proyecto “energía y agua para África” realizado en cooperación con la DIAPO-Mano e.v. disponible (Ger) y apoyada por la academia Diplomatique Africaine, la embajada senegalesa y LLC de SaEnergySystems (Ger). Juntos conceptos para el uso sostenible
de energías regeneradoras se genera para apoyar el desarrollo rural en África. Los talleres, simposio sobre energía y las exposiciones regulares van junto con este proyecto. La idea es contribuir con la investigación, el desarrollo y la comercialización de la ingeniería ambiental para los precursores internacionales de energías regeneradores.
Anterior a esta muestra durante los meses junio, julio, iris Pérez estuvo como artista en residencia al norte y sur de Francia llevando su estudio a dos instituciones
En el primer centro A LE PARC ubicado en Pampelonne, al sur de Francia realizó trabajos en la categoría de dibujo utilizando como soporte el papel y la formica, A LE PARC es un proyecto creado por artistas que desean que otros artistas trabajen en un espacio ofreciéndote las herramientas necesarias para desarrollar el proyecto que desee.
El segundo centro, PAF., ubicado al norte, es un lugar creado para el desarrollo de artistas que se dedican al estudio del performance y con espacios abiertos para otras categorías,
En PAF, Pérez, tuvo la oportunidad de tener un estudio donde realizo un laboratorio en la categoría de pintura, que fue sumamente enriquecedor e importante, concluyendo en este lugar con un muestra individual de los trabajos realizados en los dos centros y una selección de piezas que la artista llevo de Dominicana.
En PAF confluyen personas del performance, danza, música, artistas visuales, teatro, escritores, Un proyecto sumamente interesante diseñado por Jan Ritzema, catedrático universitario holandés residente en Francia.
Para la artista es sumamente interesante los conocimientos que se pueden reforzar y adquirir participando en proyectos internacionales de residencia. Tienes la oportunidad de trabajar lo que tu haces en un país extraño, conoces personas con tus mismos intereses y con mucho deseo de crear, visitas locaciones distintas llenas de belleza e historia, al estar fuera de tu hábitat natural en muchos casos te hace sentir una soledad mayor y los estados creativos surgen con mucha libertad, es totalmente enriquecedor.
Luego de finalizar las residencias de arte, Pérez, participo en el II festival internacional expoart Montreal 2007 realizado en el mes de agosto en Canadá con una selección de dibujos, pinturas y arte objeto.

Iris Pérez es egresada de la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo y la escuela nacional de bellas artes donde enseña.
