óleo s/tela (oil on canvas) ---> Some information: Like other paintings of my portfolio, this one is a depiction of one of several streets of the most typical neighbourhood of Lisbon (capital of Portugal) called Alfama. It's the oldest neighbourhood in Europe after El Pópulo in Cadiz (Spain). The Alfama's neighbourhood it's like a small village inside the city, a small "capsule" that withstood standing to the 1755 earthquake, thanks to its rock-solid foundations. If you want walking by Alfama, you do not need your map, you just need your senses to walk by alleys and small squares. In this neighbourhood you can see magnificent river views, the laundry out to dry from balconies, smell fish being grilled in the corner, hear the sounds of Fado (Portugal's typical songs) coming out of the restaurant, the taste authentic traditional meals, tread the cobblestone (mostly basalt stones), which covering the narrow streets, and see and touch some dazzling tilework. Set in a visually stunning hill that extends to the neighbourhood of Grace (another typical neighborhood), this is the most picturesque neighbourhood and the soul of Lisbon. Life here continues much the centuries it has is, but When You descend walk down towards the river, you're once again in modern times: old warehouses Have Been renovated and turned into some of the city's coolest hotspots.(Cf.lisboa lux)
