Hervé Marchelidon was born in 1965 in Orléans, France, and currently resides in the small village of Tostes in Normandy, located in the Eure department. Initially trained as a chemist, he spent several years working in Research and Development for a prominent cosmetics company. However, his passion for art emerged in 1994 when he joined a painting workshop in Taverny, Val d'Oise, led by Ourida Ichou, a painter from Argenteuil. Under her guidance, he developed a creative spirit that would shape his artistic journey.
In 2005, Marchelidon established his own workshop, "Colors and Vibrations," in Tostes. This workshop, which he still runs today, is designed for amateur painters and focuses on contemporary art. Its mission is to refine artistic perception, nurture creativity, and help individuals assert their unique artistic identities.
Marchelidon's artistic works draw inspiration from a variety of subjects, including characters, still lifes, landscapes, and portraits. However, for him, the subject serves merely as a starting point for his imagination. He frequently modifies and recomposes these subjects, expressing his distinctive vision of the world.
Primarily working with acrylics on hardboard, Marchelidon sometimes incorporates mixed media, such as collages, oil pastels, and charcoal, into his pieces. He also engages in linocut printing, illustrating "Rose's Stories" by Renée Fayon. Through his vibrant and colorful works, he aims to convey a living painting that continuously seeks vibrations, strength, and light, inviting viewers to experience the depth of his artistic expression.
