Inauguration (C6-22)

An unveiling moment of a woman’s life. I was inspired by the thoughts of a traditional woman coming from a highly cultural background, getting herself into the holy and joys of matrimony. A sense of achievement yet a sense of ensnared feeling in a beautiful nest. She will be watched, she will be used, she will be judged, she will be expected. And she will succumb.
The bright red at the back ground and White transparent veil speaks on its own.
White on her Wedding day to represent her purity of mind and body. Red representing her virginity and virtue.
The pot on the left is called “Punkalasa” (Prosperity Pot), a clay pot decorated with coconut leaves and lotus, but carrying a fully bloomed coconut flower. This is a borrowed element from South Asian cultural events.


This painting is done with bright red back ground Gauche and Acrylic mixed hardboard. Figure is drawn in Sanguine and ink work on veil and the prosperity pot nearby the figure.
Simple colour palette of red, white, natural brown and touch of metallic gold ink.

Hiranya is a classical figurative artist based in Brisbane, Australia.
She exclusively produces works derived from memories and experiences
through various reflexions of today’s social, cultural and economic ambience.
Bold colours and symbolism are a focus point.

She is currently working on two series, a Summer-floral themed series and another called 'Tea Room' which is a personal fascination.
Summer-floral theme is titled "FLORA'S SECRET" where the artist is breaking all the boundaries of colour and patterns with lots of details around the female identity.
"TEA ROOM" series on the other hand stays within stripe patterns on the subject's outfit, starting from simpler-minimal story to sophisticated tales with her personal favourites; colourful tea cups and tea pots, and all other details come with it.

Each work takes its own significant time to finish based on the amount of details going in.
The beauty of every aspect and little details of each work is extremely important to the artist.
Hence they are carefully realised.
