Hélène Jacob is a visual artist and works under the nickname “LN”, phonetically Hélène. Graduated in 1990 from the Met de Penninghen school in Paris, LN began as a creative in advertising, a career that took a more personal turn in 2010 following a trip to New York that inspired her. She then decided to devote herself entirely to plastic art.
LN worked on adhesive tape collages (from the Gaffer of cinema) on the theme of portraits of stars. She diverts the primary use of adhesive tape which is used during film shoots in order to create portraits of personalities from the world of cinema or show business on canvas and on paper. Very aware of the weight of the image in our consumer society, Marilyn Monroe, Cameron Diaz, Jack Nicholson, Woody Allen ... appear here more accessible, more affordable, simpler than ever. A way also for LN to emphasize the work of workers, technicians in the film industry who use this tool. And if the “Gaffer” can send the artist back to the simple rank of actor in an ego-devouring industry, the bright colors act as a highlight of the society of the spectacle. The choice of the “Gaffer” also illustrates the humor and detachment of LN as a distance taken from this consumer society. The stars of LN are fun and witty portrayals, ironic perhaps but never sarcastic or vulgar.
