Layers of acrylic paint graphite and charcoal create a soft abstracted composition, invoking feelings of peace and calm., full of texture and nuance. Hayes build on past experiences and keeps searching for what is visually new, while always hoping that a fusion of form and content will take place. His painting is art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality but instead use shapes, colours, forms and gestural marks to achieve its effect. His abstract art uses forms, colors and lines to create a composition which may exist with independence from visual references in the world. Art is not something we have to have, but for many of us we like the feeling of artwork in the home or public spaces. We create a need in the viewer’s mind by making compelling artworks and ideas that go beyond the commercial clichés. Hayes is trying to project emotions; If the artist is thrilled then many viewers will feel the same.
