Serge Gainsbourg, de son vrai nom Lucien Ginsburg, né et décédé à Paris (2 avril 1928 - 2 mars 1991), est un auteur-compositeur-interprète, poète, pianiste, peintre, scénariste, réalisateur, auteur, acteur et cinéaste français. Il a acquis une notoriété en tant qu'auteur-compositeur-interprète, abordant de nombreux styles musicaux. Il s’initiera également au cinéma et à la littérature, réalisera plusieurs films et clips vidéo et composera plus de quarante musiques de film. Au milieu des années 50, il utilise les pseudonymes de Julien Gris et Julien Grix avant de choisir Serge Gainsbourg comme nom d'artiste. Dans les années 1980, il a également inventé un alter ego appelé Gainsbarre. Ses débuts sur scène sont difficiles à cause de son physique. Toute sa vie, Serge Gainsbourg a souffert d'un sentiment de rejet et de l'image reflétée dans le miroir: celle d'un homme qualifié de laid.
