This artist is characterized by different styles and a mixture of abstract and figurative works. The works are dynamic and colorful. A well-known theme of the artist is the search for the balance between nature and culture. A search that takes place in a person and in the world around him.
The work is painted with acrylic paint on a linen canvas measuring 150 x 100 cm.

The central theme throughout the work is the contrast between the two superpowers, culture and nature. Nature is unpredictable, capricious, organic, seductive and always surprising. The culture is reasoning, strict, linear and predictable. This contrast is synonymous with the daily human struggle between feeling and reason, between wanting and knowing. The series of paintings with nature and animals as subjects show an impulsive, direct way of working. In the paintings the artist tries to find a balance between representation and stain.
All works are made on canvas with acrylic paint. Some works also incorporate collage-like techniques and other materials. The color strength and directness of the works create appealing, powerful canvases.
In addition to natural inspirations, humans remain an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
Het werk van ontwerper/kunstenaar Hans Corstjens valt moeilijk onder een noemer te plaatsen. Naast krachtige kleurrijke schilderijen en frisse vlotte schetsen maken sobere natuurlijke etsen deel uit van de gevarieerde collectie. In zijn werken probeert hij een balans te vinden tussen voorstelling en vlek. Als centraal thema door het werk loopt het contrast tussen de twee grootmachten cultuur en natuur. De natuur onvoorspelbaar, grillig, organisch, verleidend en steeds verrassend. De cultuur beredenerend, strak, rechtlijnig en voorspelbaar. Dit contrast is synoniem aan de dagelijkse menselijke strijd tussen gevoel en ratio, tussen willen en weten. De serie schilderijen met natuur en dieren als onderwerp laten een impulsieve directe manier van werken zien. In de schilderijen probeert de kunstenaar een balans te vinden tussen voorstelling en vlek. Alle werken zijn gemaakt op doek met Acrylverf. Bij enkele werken zijn er ook collage achtige technieken en andere materialen verwerkt. De kleurkracht en directheid van werken zorgen voor aansprekende krachtige doeken.
Naast natuurlijke inspiraties blijft de mens en het dierenrijk een onuitputtelijke bron van inspiratie.
