Недавно он заинтересовался новой тенденцией в современном искусстве под названием апсайклинг (от англ. «upcycling» т.е. вторичное использование материалов и вещей и приданием им новой функциональности.которое включает в себя превращение старых, устаревших товаров в новые предметы искусства. Апсайклинг как способ создания произведений искусства — это в первую очередь альтернатива традиционным формам искусства. Современное общество пристрастилось к потребительству, не подозревая о том, что ресурсы планеты конечны. Концепция Hakaro заключается в том, что из предметов, которые по разным причинам не перерабатываются, можно создавать произведения искусства, давая им вторую жизнь и превращая их в функциональное изделие, предмет декора в современном интерьере.
