Réfractaire au système scolaire et s’opposant au service militaire, Guykayser parcourt l’Amérique latine dès son plus jeune âge. A son retour il est emprisonné pour refus de porter l’uniforme et, lors d'une grève de la faim, des hallucinations transforment en kaléidoscopes les murs de sa prison et lui révèlent sa vocation : Il sera artiste. Libéré, il entre aux Beaux-Arts de Paris. En 80, il installe son atelier dans un squat d’artistes internationaux et participe à ses premiers salons dont celui de Vitry. Il intègre la collection du MacVal et expose ses peintures et ses objets singuliers aux galeries Jean-Claude Riedel et Boulakia, à Paris. Guykayser invite à considérer ses oeuvres, alternativement comme des formes et comme des significations, perturbant ainsi le jeu tranquille de nos habitudes esthétiques. En parallèle, Guykayser développe plusieurs séries relevant d’un même principe : un objet du quotidien photographié sous toutes ses formes, suivi d’une transformation numérique qui désorganise les pixels de l’image en fonction des variations d’une courbe de données que l’artiste lui impose (hauteur d’eau, mortalité, etc.) Guykayser est un bricoleur et un passeur qui triture la matière avec ses outils, décompose la réalité pour en extraire le sens et l’offrir en miroir à la société.
