Gustavo Mañá was born in Tucumán, a city in northern Argentina. His childhood and youth were spent alternating between the city of Córdoba in the winter and long summer vacations in the countryside, surrounded by nature, horseback riding and musical gatherings, activities that would serve as inspiration for his entire life.
As a child, he enjoyed comics, attracted by the wonderful drawings of Harold Foster and Hugo Pratt, and trying to emulate them, he began to copy them. His older sister, a visual artist, seeing his natural talent, encouraged him to study the human figure, also teaching him the basic techniques of artistic representation. He later attended the workshop of Pedro Pont Verges, a famous Cordoban painter, for a time, in order to deepen his knowledge.
In 1975, he obtained his degree in architecture from the Faculty of Architecture in Buenos Aires. At the same time, he dedicated himself to advertising illustration, eventually having his own agency.
His fondness for dogs and horses led him to recreate them in charcoal, pen, and pastel. He then began a fruitful artistic career, participating in numerous solo and group exhibitions in various settings. Many of these works can be found around the world.
In 2017, he was invited to attend the workshop of the renowned master Roger Mantegani, with whom he found a form of personal expression that is evident in each of his works.
His work highlights his predilection for drawing the human figure, depicting various human activities with great skill.
