The artist Guillaume Le Moal presents here a variation in drawing of tiny birds captured at different stages of movement. Passionate about nature, he has walked many beaches in Finistère to stop on these spectacular seaside waders, swift, moving in groups, in a choreographed manner.
The Kentish Plovers are small waders nesting in the dunes of Tréguennec (Finistère). A protected species, there are only 1,500 pairs left in
France. Overtourism on Breton beaches and the repeated passage of humans in the low grass, where the bird breeds and lays its eggs, unfortunately destroys the eggs and disrupts the natural functioning of the bird.
The different drawings presented illustrate a particular moment in the daily life of the ringed plover, the search for food, small worms exposed by the surf on the beach. Because of their tiny size, these flocks of birds rush towards secluded water to catch the worms and then, chased away by the second wave that returns, flee inland.
An unusual dance. The artist also adds inspired moments, the dizziness, the relief, as if to immortalize on paper the difficulty these small beings have in surviving. The flight punctuates the series on display.
A reproduction of a cat encountered in Finistère will also enhance the exhibition. Of Yemeni origin, this cat was adopted by a Breton family. Aggressive because it was abandoned not far from the desert, the animal, tender inside, found a great new family in Brittany. What a cat's life!
