Shield maidens were female warriors from Scandanivian Folklore and mythology from 700 A.D. to 1100 who fought alongside men and were no less than them. In Viking culture, there weren't as many gender barriers as in other societies and cultures and were quite ahead to their time in that sense. So cheers to all the strong women out there : May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.

Gitika captured a lot of beautiful images through her photography skills which she got through her grandfather. She imagines beauty in nature through her paintbrush, palette knife and colours her creative expressions in acrylic, finds inspiration around the natural landscape of all her travels.
