Giovanni Sanesi is a contemporary Italian artist born in Florence in 1992. From a young age, he displayed a passion for various forms of artistic expression, including painting, video, and photography. At the age of 11, he gained public attention by being featured in an exhibition organized by the Municipality of Prato and the Luigi Pecchi Center, which attracted media coverage.
Sanesi studied at the Art Institute of Porta Romana in Florence and spent about ten years training in various artists' studios, refining his skills and focusing his work on the human condition. Alongside his artistic development, he pursued studies in Philosophy, which deeply influenced his thematic exploration of human relationships and society.
Sanesi’s creative process involves daily video and photographic documentation of the world around him, which he then translates into large-scale paintings. He uses a mix of voluminous resins, acrylics, oils, and digital painting techniques, creating immersive works that reflect social dynamics and contemporary issues. His art touches on themes such as post-pandemic society, environmental awareness, gender fluidity, and technological advancements.
Growing up in a large family of 17 siblings, Sanesi developed an early awareness of social relationships and differences, which now fuels his artistic narrative. Describing the artist as a "seismograph" of their time, he sees his work as a way to document the world’s evolution. Currently, Sanesi works between Italy and the USA, continuing to explore these global themes through his art.
